Genshin Impact Version 7.2 is scheduled for November 4. Use this spoiler-light plan to prepare your account, explore eastern Snezhnaya and test Mitya and Valeriy once they are live.
Prepare for a release, not an already solved meta
HoYoverse says Genshin Impact Version 7.2, Hour of Ruin, arrives November 4, 2026. It opens a new area in eastern Snezhnaya, continues the Archon Quest and adds Mitya and Valeriy as playable characters. Because this guide is published October 31, the update is still ahead. The goal is to help you prepare without inventing live drop rates or claiming a best team before players can test the final build.
First, decide what you want from the first week. Some players care most about the story, others want the new region, and others are saving for a character. There is no need to complete everything in one session. Write down your priority and leave time for the game to surprise you. A major update is easier to enjoy when every map marker is not treated as a deadline.
Check the official update notice just before release for maintenance timing, download size and any revised details. The preview gives the broad direction, but the live client and final notes are the sources for exact values. Keep this distinction in mind when reading early build recommendations.
- Version 7.2 is scheduled for November 4.
- Check limited event deadlines before clearing permanent exploration.
- Wait for the live build before settling Mitya's team.
Start the Archon Quest with a spoiler-light plan
The official press release says the seven nations of Teyvat unite against a crisis tied to the Nails of Retribution and the Holy Soil phenomenon. Representatives converge on Snezhnaya, and familiar allies take part. If you care about the story, avoid detailed social-media summaries on launch day and make room for dialogue rather than racing to a reward screen.
HoYoverse says completing the Archon Quest within a designated period grants 560 Primogems and Character Ascension Materials for Mitya. That is a time-sensitive incentive, but the press release does not justify skipping story you want to experience. Check the in-game event page for the exact cutoff and requirements in your region.
If you are behind on earlier quests, open the quest journal now and see what is required to reach the new chapter. The game may offer a Quick Start route for some events, but that does not automatically replace every narrative prerequisite. Use the live quest menu as your guide. Finish enough context to understand the characters if story is your main reason to return.
Explore the new region in manageable loops
Eastern Snezhnaya includes Novokitezhgrad, an underground city encased in Kresnik Kristall, and Wingspan Peak, where Old Kitezhgrad lies. HoYoverse also describes a railway route and a harsh, snowy surface world. Those are confirmed locations, but their exact exploration rhythm will be clearer once the map is live.
For a first session, choose one route rather than pinning every marker. Follow the main path until you understand the area's landmarks, then return for side trails. Mark puzzles or resources that you cannot solve yet. A focused loop helps you remember where you were and prevents a new map from becoming a blur of unfinished tasks.
The press release mentions Prime Ice Constructs and two elemental shotguns used against contaminated Kresnik Kristall deposits. Read the in-game instructions before trying to brute-force a hazard with a familiar attack. These tools sound tied to regional mechanics, but their exact controls and limits need the live tutorial. Treat the first encounter as a lesson, not a speed challenge.
Test Mitya's role before copying a team
Mitya is announced as a five-star Electro Catalyst user who converts the party's Superconduct reactions into Stellar-Conduct reactions. HoYoverse says his kit builds special energy, which his Elemental Skill can use in different ways. Pressing Skill deals periodic nearby damage, while holding it consumes energy for enhanced Charged Attacks. His Burst deals area Electro damage and generates more energy.
That official description suggests he can move between on-field and off-field play. It does not settle the best rotation, artifact set or damage ceiling. If you obtain him, begin with a safe team you know well and test one rotation at a time. Watch how quickly special energy builds and whether your chosen teammates create the intended reactions consistently.
Do not spend every saved resource based on a pre-release damage chart. A character can feel different in your own hands than in a polished showcase. Use the trial if one is available, inspect his live talents, and decide whether his pace fits your account. The press release gives a useful outline; the game gives the details that matter to your team.
Valeriy can support an Electro plan
Valeriy is listed as a four-star Electro Sword character who provides shields and boosts Electro damage, particularly for Stellar-Conduct teams. That makes him a natural character to inspect alongside Mitya, but it does not mean every Mitya team must include him. A shield helps only if it fits your energy, reaction and survival needs.
The first phase of Event Wishes is scheduled to feature Mitya and Valeriy alongside a Furina rerun. The second phase brings Zibai and Linnea reruns plus a Chronicled Wish for certain Natlan characters. Check the live wish details before spending; banners have exact start and end times, and the press release is a preview rather than a substitute for in-game terms.
If you already have a reliable Electro support, compare what Valeriy actually adds after release. Test whether the shield lets you complete a rotation more safely and whether his buff matters with your existing gear. Personal comfort is a real part of a team. The strongest-looking number on paper is less useful when the setup is awkward to repeat.
Keep limited rewards separate from permanent exploration
HoYoverse says a limited event becomes available through Archon Quest progress or a Quick Start option. It brings allies together to respond to the Holy Soil crisis, with tasks such as rescuing soldiers and relaying information. Event objectives can award Primogems, enhancement materials and an invitation for a four-star character of your choice.
Other announced activities include a filming event in Snezhnaya, a mining challenge in Natlan and changes to Miliastra Wonderland. These are separate from the permanent region itself. After the update launches, open the event overview and sort by the earliest deadline. That prevents an optional limited reward from disappearing while you spend all your time on exploration that will still be available later.
The simplest launch plan is to update the client, check quest and event deadlines, follow one story chapter, explore one new area and test any characters in their live trials. Return for the rest when you have time. Version 7.2 looks broad, but a good first week is a series of small, enjoyable sessions rather than a race to clear every icon.
